Volunteer with the YMCA’s FREE Summer Lunch Program! This is a great opportunity for families, churches, workplaces, friends, teens, and anybody wishing to make a meaningful impact in their community! Volunteer for as little as a couple of hours for one day, choose several days, or volunteer all summer! The YMCA of Greater Birmingham has zero tolerance for abuse and will not tolerate the mistreatment or abuse of consumers in its programs. Any mistreatment or abuse by an employee or volunteer will result in disciplinary action, including termination of employment or volunteer service and cooperation with law enforcement. To ensure the safety of all children in our programs, all volunteers working with youth and teens must complete the following: 1. Complete Application 2. References 3. Background Check (completed every 2 years) 4. Child Abuse Prevention Training (annually) 5. Signed Code of Conduct and Abuse Prevention Policies and Procedures 6. Transportation Waiver - for those that ride the bus from the Y to lunch location
Volunteers must be at least 14 to participate without a parent or guardian present. All volunteers aged 13 and younger must have a parent with them. Additionally, volunteers under 19 need a transportation waiver on file if they plan to ride the YMCA bus to the off-site lunch location.
